Dismissal Project
Video Art + Creative Coding
About
————————————————————————————————
The Dismissal Project uses a Leap Motion sensor, creative coding, and video taken of my friends, family, and strangers, to create a conversation about how we choose to make space and time for one another. I borrowed the notion of "swiping" from Tinder, taking it further and making the interactions larger-than-life. Participants would swipe with their entire hand over the Leap Motion, making choices about the moving images of people on the screen - they were waiting patiently to be either accepted or rejected (Swipe Right to accept, Swipe Left to reject). The decision to swipe had consequences. The people you swiped would react to your decision with real emotion (disappointment, frustration, sadness, happiness, joy, pride etc).
